I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I did. I was able to see my new nephew, and it was the greatest. How can you spend so much time just staring at someones face. He is so adorable. i wanted to pack him in my suitcase and take him home with me. But I think my sister and BIL would have noticed.

And I also spent the weekend working on my special project, which I hope to reveal later this week.

I had an hour ride on the train to NYC today, and I was able to knit a lot on my sweater. Ashley and I also were able to make it to the yarn shop in Princeton. I bought some Manos to make a great pair of fingerless mittens. And some yarn for my SP. And some opal gem sock yarn. I need to get at least one pair of socks finished so I can knit up all this other sock yarn

I am right now sitting on the 34th floor of the UN Plaza hotel, overlooking the East River, and getting anxious about my interview tomorrow. I have a great view from my hotel. And I spent the night reviewing the publications of the people that I will meet with tomorrow. I am a little nervous. I had wanted to wander around today, but I got here after dark, and I didn't want to do that in the dark. Hopefully I will have some time in the next 2 days.

Well, I have been tagged by Beth. So here goes.

What is your all-time favorite yarn to knit with?

Nothing in particular. I have some Rowan calmer that I am to knit with. And everyone raves about that. But I can't say that there is anything in particular that is my favorite.

The worst thing you've ever knit?
I have this sweater that I made when I was in high school. At that time it was wonderful, but now it has these puffy sleeves. I still like it. I'll have to take a picture when I get home, and see what you all think about it.

Most valuable knitting technique?
That is a hard one, since I can't say that I have that many techniques. So I will have to take a pass on this one, and maybe Beth can teach me her invisible cast on.

Your most favorite knit pattern?
That is tough, cause I don't have a pattern that I have knit many of. But if I have to pick something, it would be Anouk. I have made 2 of them, they are quick, easy baby girl gifts. and I love that it will grow with the baby!

Favorite knitwear designer?
I don't know. I need to peruse some designs and then I'll get back to you. I guess I have a lot more to learn about knitting.

Best knitting magazine?
Interweave, of course! I just love it.

Favorite Book?
I love my Vogue Knitting companion. It is a small version of there big book. It is easy to carry around and has lots of tips.

Your favorite knit blogs?
How can I list one and not offend others. So I am only going to list one. ARTwinKnits. That is because it belongs to the person who got me hooked on this crazy thing, and is the best sister in the world.

The knit item you wear the most?
I stareted knitting when I was in middle school. And then when I went to college I put it away. Then about 2 years I picked it up again. Most of what I have made in the last 2 years has not been wearable, at least by me. Several gifts, and a scarf or two. But I am knitting away on a sweater that I can't wait. i'll post some pictures soon.

I better get some sleep. If I get to a computer tomorrow, I may post some more about my interview. If not, then Wednesday.

Sunday, busy Sunday

Well, I am on call day. And it has been the day of deliveries for first time moms. It has been a great day. We have delivered three so far, and have some more to go. I have also been working on the manuscript for my paper that I am trying to finish. My book chapter I finished last week, and I hope to get this finished before I leave for Thanksgiving.

I am also getting anxious about my job interview next week. I have two days full of interviews. And I don't know what to expect, what questions I should ask. But I am looking forward to it. It should be good.

Well, the one thing about today that has also been good, it I have some time to knit! I am progressing slowly on the sweater. I wish I had time to make some Christmas gifts, but I am not so sure that it going to happen.

I have also been investigating another project that I am going to keep secret for a while, until I get it all figured out. Hope you all have had a good weekend. I just want to leave you with this:
If I can't get a date on my own, maybe he can help (Hope you don't mind me stealing the pic Ash).

You Should Get a MD (Doctor of Medicine)

You're both compassionate and brilliant - a rare combination.

You were born to be a doctor.

Glad to know I made the right choice.

Lazy Saturday of Work

Okay,I have decided that I must complete the much promised pictures before I go to my office to finish this dreaded chapter. I must finish it today. I don't think it will be a problem, I just need to lock myself away from distraction and do it. So I will get my distraction out of the way first. But beware, this will be lots of pictures.

First I want to send out a thank you to my SP who sent me this package weeks ago. The sock yarn is beautiful. I have already used the soap, and the baby booty yarn is so soft. I love it all.

Next, I promise some pictures of the sweater that I am working on, but they will have to come later.

Finally, here are some images from the things I have been doing over the last few months. First, here is St. Louis, every year there is a Balloon Race. On Friday night they have what is called the glow, where they light up all the baloons and people walk around and look at them. My camera is crappy, so the pictures look like this,On Saturday, they actually have a balloon race. The energizer bunny is the start of the race.
My friend's friend works for Energizer, so we were able to get up close.
Then, the other balloons chase the bunny, and the first one to get close to him wins. I don't think they made it very far this year, cause the bunny crashed before he left the park. But the balloons were beautiful, and it was a beautiful day. Here are some of the pictures.

Finally, here is a picture from my trip to Aspen in August.

Unfortunately, all of the beautiful weather was when I was in conference, and it rained when I was out, so I have very few pictures. My plans to go hiking were foiled by a big thunderstorm. But I had a great time, and the trip was great. I even made it to the LYS there in Aspen, and they were having a sale. I got some sock yarn. Yipee!

Well, I think that is enough for today. Have a good weeked.

I am a bad blogger. I have not posted in over a week. But I have a good excuse -- kind of. But I have been knitting some. But work is keeping me too busy.

My book chapter is almost half way finished. Unfortunately, my half I haven't really started. And it is due on Tuesday. I think it will be a rather quick thing. I have written a fair amount in the last hour. I just need to sit down and do it. And my manuscript for the study I finished in June is coming close to being finished. And I have to present on that on next Thursday. So my three day weekend will be no party. I will probably spend it in my office, writing. Oh, the life of an academic physician. But I love it.

The job interviews are slowly tricklin in. I am going to be going all over the country to look for a job. I am anxious and scared, and have shed many a tear over this whole process. I am sure there will be more tears. I just wish I had someone to help me make this decision -- but that complaint is for another moment - and should be accompanied by a good bottle of wine.

Now for a little knitting. I received my first SP gift now almost 2 weeks ago. I was out of town when it arrived, but it was here waiting for me. Some beautiful sock yarn, some baby booty yarn, and some great treats from LUSH (she did some blog reading to find I fell in love with this place on my trip to Aspen). I have pictures -- and lots of other pics I want to post -- but I can't find the cord to connect my camera. So I will have to search through my unpacked vacation stuff. I know it is there. The sandsoap that I got is great, and I have some bath bombs that are waiting for a good lazy saturday to be used.

I also have been working on a great sweater. I am almost halfway up the back, which is good progress for me. I promise pictures to come. The body is all in seed stitch, which makes me wish I wasn't a thrower, but I can never get the tension right the other way. I think it would mean lots of frogging and in the end will be faster with the throwing.

Well, I better get back to my chapter. This quick post has turned into a book. If I only had such inspiration for preterm labor.

Happy Birthday

Well, today is my sister's birthday. And because we are twins, that means it is my birthday, too! So Happy Birthday sis.

The other news I have is that I am an aunt again! Ashley had her baby last week, and I was lucky enough to be there. H is so cute. I will post pics of him soon.

I have lots to tell about the knitting that took place during my vacation, but that will have to wait until later. Now I must go celebrate my birthday. Hopefully the rain won't keep the trick or treaters away!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
